( Dead Computers In the Basement )A conversation with my sister about the "computer graveyard" in her cellar prompted the following:
Dead Computers In The Basement
There's a smell of dust and ozone
Silence reigns from dawn to dawn
Dead computers in the basemen
All my pictures now are gone
As I stand here contemplating
Chucking Windows out the door
Dead computers in my basement
Now my games will play no more
On the Osborne in the corner sits the script I can't retrieve;
This Atari holds my novel;
I can't just throw them out -- if I just hang on one more year
Somehow I'll retrieve my data from these blackened hunks of plastic junk!
The Texas Instruments still linger
The Apple II is dead, not gone
There's a smell of dust and ozone
Silence reigns from dawn to dawn
Burned-out monitors on tables,
Crispy hard drives on the floor;
Empty screens and empty pixels
From my Commodore 64
(beat...:::scratches head::: Commodore 64? Where did I get a Commodore 64?...)
Oh, my Facebook friends, don't ask me
What those updates all were for
Dead computers in the basement
Where my blog will rant no more.
