Okay, NOW they've torqued me off...
Oct. 4th, 2008 02:40 pmIf you haven't seen Belinda Whats-her-face's online essay about high school traumas she's still not over -- er, Palin's rising unpopularity with women, take a look:

(I'll wait. ::::tum te tum de dum::::)
Forget Palin--I hate Belinda Luscombe for being too confident and potentially embarrassing us as a gender.
Yes, I did notice a long time ago what Chris Rock (among others) once articulated: Women Hate On Other Women. I noticed it first in nursing, a profession in which, to too many nurses I met, low self-esteem and low expectations were the catechism and eating one's young was a rite of passage and fighting over tiny crumbs of status was the real day-to-day business.
However, through my friendships in the SCA, I have also learned how many good, strong, beautiful, confident, brilliant women live generous emotional lives without batting an eye.
To dismiss an ever-rising tide of valid reservations about Palin's willingness to force the rules of one belief system on a secular government over a pluralistic populace, about her capacity for learning, growth, and tolerance, about her (insert issue here) -- to reduce the serious questions of thousands of women to the triviality of a Prom Queen fight -- that takes a special, specially toxic kind of misogyny.
We've already got too many talking heads trivializing / marginalizing the opinion of anything in a skirt -- we don't need anyone else, especially one of us, doing more of that job.
I wouldn't have voted for McCain / ANYBODY, let alone McCain / Palin, Belinda. Don't presume to speak for so many of us. I, for one, like to think I matured a little bit since high school.
