Sometimes I Hate People
Nov. 14th, 2007 04:11 pmAfter not being able to find a free platform to do my show today ( I possibly / probably left the house too late considering the instrument-friendly weather), I looked for things to do so my effort in leaving the house wouldn't be completely wasted. Took a walk home from the train since I need the cardio now that I drive to work. Waited in a 20-minute line (okay, it was two 10-minute lines, I thought maybe only the first clerk was being b!tchy / stoopid) at the Post Orifice to find out the domestic first-class postage for a CD in a padded mailer (yes, your intrepid heroine is branching into mail-order music 8). Both clerks insisted that they were completely powerless to help me without my supplying a zip code, which I don't yet have for the two different places I'll be sending CD's. Since many Orifices around here have scales in the lobbies, I never expected it to get this complicated. This station, of course, only had scales under the direct control of the Charming and Helpful Post Orifice Clerks. The second clerk magnanimously agreed to weigh the thing so I could calculate the postage myself via the website.
So I did.
I got three rates:
My zip code ----> 11598 (Long Island NY): $1. 47
My zip code ----> 50540 (somewhere in the Midwest, I think) : $1.47
My zip code ----> 90210 : $ 1. 47 (sensing a theme?)Sometimes I %#&^%$* HATE people.
