Small Miracles
Feb. 21st, 2006 04:33 amToo tired to post last night. Patient had asked me last week if I could look at their broken, ancient tabletop Singer, because she knows I sew. Didn't get to it until today. Needle not moving, motor making humming noise when pedal was pressed. Oddly, bobbin winding feature worked fine. I took off side and top covers, checked again. Needle now moving--don't ask me how! Covers replaced and dusted. Patient had OT session in one room, I sewed in another room with periodic breaks to make sure they didn't need me. (Fortunately, motley was cut out sitting in a bag with thread for hand sewing on train...) Motley is finished, all except the ears.
Also forgot to mention a nice thing that I shared with Mom: I have some "drinking chocolate" from Whole Foods which, according to the directions, should only be heated until "piping hot", never boiled. Before Mom's visit I'd found out why--it gets very thick when you boil it--just about the right consistency for dipping things like strawberries (I know, congratulate me--I've re-invented FONDUE...).
